April 2026 Bollywood Lineup: Dacoit Opens to Strong Buzz While Bhooth Bangla Sets Up April 16 Previews
April 2026 is shaping up as one of Bollywood’s most stacked months, with Dacoit: A Love Story opening to early positive buzz on 10 April, Bhooth Bangla set for paid previews from 16 April, and Netflix’s dark comedy Toaster arriving on 15 April. A fourth release, Ginny Wedss Sunny 2, rounds out the month on 24 April.
Dacoit: A Love Story Opens Strong
Directed by Shaneil Deo, Dacoit stars Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur in a romantic action thriller about two former lovers forced by circumstances to reunite for a series of high-stakes robberies. The supporting cast includes Anurag Kashyap, Prakash Raj, and Sunil. Early audience reactions have praised the film’s emotional depth, action sequences, and chemistry between the leads, with some calling it a modern-day reimagining of the classic outlaw love story.
The film opened in theatres on 10 April and is tracking well in its first days. Dacoit is a bilingual release (Hindi and Telugu) from Annapurna Studios and S.S. Creations, giving it a wider footprint than a typical single-language release.
Bhooth Bangla: Akshay-Priyadarshan Reunite
The much-anticipated horror comedy Bhooth Bangla will begin paid previews on 16 April from 9 PM onwards, ahead of its wider release on 17 April. The film reunites Akshay Kumar with director Priyadarshan for the first time in over a decade, alongside Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu, and Wamiqa Gabbi.
The plot follows a group trapped inside a haunted bungalow, blending the supernatural comedy formula that made the Kumar-Priyadarshan pairing legendary in the early 2000s. The release date was shifted from an earlier window to avoid competing with the ongoing box-office run of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which has crossed Rs 1,658 crore worldwide.
Toaster and Ginny Wedss Sunny 2
Netflix’s Toaster, starring Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra, is a dark comedy revolving around wedding chaos and an unlikely household appliance. The film drops on 15 April and is expected to perform well on the platform given the proven chemistry of the lead pair.
Ginny Wedss Sunny 2, arriving on 24 April, is a spiritual sequel to the 2020 hit. Directed by Prasshant Jha, it features Avinash Tiwary and 12th Fail breakout star Medha Shankr in a fresh rishta-meets-wedding drama. The romantic comedy closes out what promises to be a diverse month for Hindi cinema.
The broader entertainment landscape is equally busy — Ramayana Part 1 is building Diwali 2026 hype, and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 3 confirmation has kept South Cinema in the conversation. Meanwhile, The Boys Final Season premiered on 8 April as part of a record OTT lineup for the month.
