Editorial Policy

Editorial Policy

The standards, practices, and principles that guide everything we publish at Daily Tips.

At Daily Tips, we hold ourselves to a simple standard: every article we publish should be something our readers can trust, act on, and share with confidence. This editorial policy outlines how we achieve that — from how we source information to how we handle mistakes.

1. Commitment to Accuracy

Accuracy is the foundation of everything we do. Our writers and editors are expected to:

  • Verify all facts, figures, statistics, and claims using at least two independent, credible sources before publication.
  • Cite official government data, peer-reviewed research, and established news agencies wherever possible.
  • Clearly distinguish between verified facts and the author’s analysis, interpretation, or opinion.
  • Use direct quotes accurately and in their original context — never out of context to change meaning.
  • Include specific dates, numbers, and attribution rather than vague claims like “experts say” or “studies show.”
  • Flag any information that could not be independently verified with explicit caveats in the article.
💡 Our accuracy principle: If we cannot verify a claim from a credible source, we either omit it, explicitly flag the uncertainty, or hold the story until verification is possible. We would rather be slower than wrong.

2. Source Standards

The quality of our journalism depends on the quality of our sources. We maintain a clear hierarchy:

🟢 Primary Sources (Preferred)

  • Government reports and official data
  • Press releases from verified organisations
  • Published academic and peer-reviewed research
  • Direct interviews and first-hand accounts
  • Company filings and regulatory documents

🟡 Secondary Sources (With Verification)

  • Established national and international news agencies
  • Reputable industry reports and analyst research
  • Published books from credible authors
  • Verified subject-matter expert commentary

🔴 Not Accepted

  • Unverified social media posts
  • Anonymous blog posts or forums
  • Circular sourcing (citing articles that cite us)
  • Press releases without independent verification

Anonymous sources are used sparingly and only when the information is of significant public interest and cannot be obtained through on-record sources. When used, we describe the source’s position and reason for anonymity as specifically as possible without revealing their identity.

3. Editorial Independence

Our editorial content is produced independently of our advertising and business operations.

  • Advertisers and sponsors have zero influence over our editorial decisions, story selection, or coverage.
  • Our editorial team operates separately from our advertising team.
  • Any content created in partnership with a brand or sponsor is prominently labelled as “Sponsored” or “Paid Partnership” at the top of the article.
  • We do not accept payment for editorial coverage. Companies cannot buy positive reviews or favourable mention in our editorial content.
  • Product reviews and recommendations are based on independent research and assessment, not on commercial relationships.

4. Subject-Matter Expertise

We match writers to stories based on their genuine knowledge and reporting experience in that subject area:

Subject Area Our Standard
Health & Nutrition Written or reviewed by contributors with backgrounds in nutrition science, public health, or medical journalism. We do not provide medical advice and always encourage readers to consult qualified professionals.
Finance & Economy Produced by writers with expertise in economics, markets, or personal finance. We provide analysis and information, never investment advice. Financial data is sourced from RBI, SEBI, NSE/BSE, and verified industry reports.
Science & Technology Led by contributors with science communication experience who consult published research papers and ensure technical accuracy. We distinguish between established science and emerging/unproven research.
Sports Covered by beat reporters with deep knowledge of their sports, established source networks, and years of sports journalism experience.
Culture & Entertainment Written by reporters with genuine cultural knowledge and industry sources. Reviews represent informed critical opinion, clearly distinguished from factual reporting.

5. Corrections & Accountability

We believe that how a publication handles its mistakes is as important as how it reports its stories. Our corrections process is built on transparency:

1
Minor corrections — Typos, grammatical errors, and formatting issues are fixed without a separate note.
2
Factual corrections — Errors of fact are corrected in the article with a clear correction notice at the top, describing what was changed, what the original error was, and when the correction was made.
3
Significant corrections — Major errors that materially affect the meaning or conclusions of an article receive a prominent correction notice and, where appropriate, a follow-up article explaining the error and the corrected information.

To report an error, please email corrections@dailytips.in or use our Contact page. View our full Corrections Log.

6. Content Updates

Some articles are updated after publication to reflect new developments or additional information. When an article is substantially updated:

  • We add an “Updated on [date]” note at the top of the article.
  • We describe the nature and reason for the update.
  • The original publication date is preserved alongside the update date.
  • We do not silently alter the substance of published articles — all material changes are disclosed.

7. AI & Technology Policy

Daily Tips may use AI-assisted tools for research support, data analysis, and initial content drafting. However, our policy is clear:

  • All published content is reviewed, edited, fact-checked, and approved by human editors before publication.
  • AI tools assist the editorial process — they do not replace human editorial judgement.
  • We disclose the use of AI-generated content where applicable.
  • No article is published without a named human author who takes responsibility for its accuracy.

8. Ethical Guidelines

  • Conflicts of interest: Writers must disclose any personal, financial, or professional relationships that could influence their coverage. Where a conflict exists, the story is reassigned.
  • Plagiarism: All content must be original. Direct quotation from other sources must be properly attributed with quotation marks and citation.
  • Privacy: We respect individual privacy and only publish personal information when it is relevant to the public interest and verified.
  • Sensitivity: Coverage of trauma, violence, and vulnerable communities follows responsible reporting guidelines. We avoid sensationalism and gratuitous detail.
