The CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 is expected to be declared by 30 April 2026, according to multiple reports citing sources close to the Central Board of Secondary Education. With the evaluation of answer sheets already completed through the board’s on-screen marking system, over 16 lakh students who appeared for the Class 12 board examinations — conducted between 17 February and 10 April 2026 — are anxiously awaiting their results.

Once declared, results will be available on the official CBSE websites, cbseresults.nic.in and cbse.nic.in, as well as through alternative channels including DigiLocker, the UMANG app, SMS services, and the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS).

When Will CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 Be Declared?

While the Central Board of Secondary Education has not issued an official date and time for the result announcement, reliable reports indicate that the declaration is likely to happen by the end of April, potentially on 30 April. CBSE traditionally announces results through a press conference, often held at the board’s Preet Vihar headquarters in New Delhi, before activating online result portals.

Students are advised to keep their admit cards handy, as the roll number and school number printed on the admit card will be required to access results. The board typically releases Class 12 results before Class 10 results, maintaining the pattern followed in recent years. In 2025, the CBSE Class 12 result was declared on 12 May, so a late-April declaration this year would represent a significant acceleration of the timeline.

The examinations for the 2026 academic session were among the most extensive in CBSE’s history, with papers conducted across approximately 7,900 examination centres in India and abroad. The board adopted several anti-cheating measures this year, including randomised seating, live CCTV monitoring, and geotagged attendance.

How to Check CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 Online

Students can follow these step-by-step instructions to check their CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 once it is declared:

Method 1: Official CBSE Websites

Visit cbseresults.nic.in or cbse.nic.in. Click on the “CBSE Class 12 Result 2026” link. Enter your roll number, school number, and date of birth. Enter the security code displayed on screen. Click “Submit” to view your scorecard. Download and print the provisional scorecard for your records.

Method 2: DigiLocker

Log in to digilocker.gov.in or use the DigiLocker mobile app. Navigate to the “Education” section. Select “CBSE” from the list of issuing organisations. Your marksheet and passing certificate will appear automatically if linked to your Aadhaar. This method is particularly useful when the main CBSE website experiences heavy traffic immediately after results are declared.

Method 3: UMANG App

Download the UMANG app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Search for “CBSE Results” in the services section. Enter your roll number and other required details. View and download your scorecard.

Method 4: SMS

Send an SMS in the format: CBSE12 [space] ROLLNUMBER to 7738299899. You will receive your result via return SMS. This is useful when internet connectivity is limited.

What the CBSE Class 12 Scorecard Will Contain

The provisional scorecard will display each student’s subject-wise marks, total aggregate, grades for each subject, qualifying status (pass or fail), and compartment details if applicable. Students who score above 95 per cent in individual subjects or in aggregate are typically highlighted in the CBSE toppers list, which is announced separately.

It is important to note that the online scorecard is provisional. Original marksheets, migration certificates, and passing certificates will be distributed later through respective schools. Students should contact their school administration regarding the timeline for collecting original documents. Previously, Uttarakhand Board declared its Class 10 and 12 results earlier this month, setting a benchmark for other state boards.

Expected Pass Percentage and Key Statistics

CBSE has not released any official data on the expected pass percentage for 2026. However, in recent years, the Class 12 pass percentage has remained above 85 per cent, with girls consistently outperforming boys. In 2025, the overall pass rate was 87.98 per cent, with the girls’ pass rate at 90.10 per cent compared to 85.30 per cent for boys.

Approximately 16.27 lakh students registered for the CBSE Class 12 examinations in 2026, with the largest numbers appearing for examinations in English Core, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Economics. The board also conducted examinations in over 60 subjects, including vocational courses, across both the Science, Commerce, and Humanities streams.

What to Do After Checking Your Result

Students who have passed should begin the process of applying to colleges and universities for undergraduate programmes. Many institutions have already opened their application portals for the 2026-27 academic year, and cut-off lists are expected to be released within weeks of the CBSE result declaration.

Those who receive a compartment in one or two subjects will be eligible to appear for the compartment examination, typically conducted in July. Students who fail in more than two subjects may need to reappear for the examination as private candidates in the next cycle.

Students are also advised to verify all personal details on their marksheet — including name spelling, date of birth, and photograph — and report any discrepancies to their school immediately for correction.
